New-build plot finishing

New-build plot mastic and finishing

Plot mastic is one of the last trades through a new home: windows and doors inside and out, sanitaryware, worktops and snagging before handover. Housebuilders and contractors can post a single plot, a phase or a whole site.

Mastic and sealant work only, UK-wide, launching in phases. Free to post a job. Introduction service: you agree the work and price directly with the applicator.

What plot finishing covers

A typical plot includes external frame perimeters, internal frame and window board joints, bath, shower, basin and toilet sealant, kitchen worktops and splashbacks, and sometimes skirting and architrave joints for the decorators. Snagging visits before handover pick up anything damaged by other trades.

Developers often want the same applicator across a phase so the finish is consistent, and some sites ask for named products and colours in the specification.

  • Plot mastic: windows, doors and sanitaryware
  • External frame perimeters across a development
  • Snagging and pre-handover resealing
  • Multi-plot and phase contracts
  • Show homes and sales areas

Choose the closest match when you post, or pick "Something else". You can add photos and a rough number of metres, frames or plots, and applicators see your postcode district only, never your address.

What to include for a site

Say how many plots and house types there are, the programme, who supplies the sealant, the colours, and what the site requires: inductions, cards, RAMS and working hours. Applicators can then tell you whether they can resource the phase.

  • Number of plots, house types and programme
  • Specification, products and colours
  • Site requirements: inductions, cards, RAMS
  • Payment terms and how plots are signed off

New-build jobs for plot mastic applicators

Plot mastic work is posted by housebuilders, main contractors and finishing subcontractors who need extra hands for a phase. Jobs here tell you the number of plots and site requirements up front, and at most three applicators can claim each one, so you are not one of twenty names on a list.

Joining is free. Choose the sealant work you do, your base postcode and radius, and the postcode areas you cover. See sealant jobs for applicators.

Frequently asked questions

Can I post a whole development?

Yes. Describe the plots, phases and programme. Applicators who can resource it will claim the job and you agree terms directly with the one you choose.

Do applicators bring their own sealant?

It varies by site. Say in the post whether you supply materials or expect the applicator to.

Can I ask for CSCS cards?

Yes. Applicators can add CSCS, IPAF and PASMA cards to their account. State what your site requires in the job description.

Will a plot mastic applicator respond to my job?

You can post a job anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, and applicators who cover your area can claim it. We are launching in phases and recruiting applicators across the country, so we cannot promise a response in every area yet. If nobody claims your job you can cancel it.

How are applicators on Mastic Man checked?

Applicators must confirm their email address before they can see jobs, and we suspend accounts reported for misuse. We do not check companies or identity, so ask for references and photos of previous work. Applicators can add CSCS, IPAF or PASMA cards. We are an introduction service and do not promise any outcome, so ask for photos of previous work and agree the price and scope in writing.
