Terms of use

Last updated 17 October 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses Mastic Man (mastic-man.co.uk): people who post sealant jobs ("customers") and mastic and sealant applicators who look at and claim jobs ("applicators"). By using the site you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy and cookies page.

1. Who we are

The site is run by Pioneer Sealants Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 12966331, VAT number 454193781. Registered office: 22 Clover Avenue, Bedford MK41 0TZ. Contact: jobs@mastic-man.co.uk. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean Pioneer Sealants Ltd.

Pioneer Sealants Ltd also works as a mastic and sealant contractor. If it ever claims a job on this site, it does so openly under its own name, on the same terms as every other applicator and with no priority, and the customer is free to choose someone else.

2. We are an introducer only

We introduce customers who need mastic and sealant work to applicators who may want to do it. That is all we do. In particular:

  • we are not a party to any contract between a customer and an applicator. Any quote, price, contract, payment, guarantee or dispute is between them;
  • we do not employ, supervise or recommend applicators, and we do not carry out or inspect any work;
  • we do not guarantee that any job will be claimed, or the quality, price, safety, timing or legality of any work.

3. Prices, the applicator subscription, cancellation and refunds

Customers. Posting a job, receiving claims and choosing an applicator are free. We take no commission. You pay the applicator you choose directly for the work, on whatever terms you agree with them.

Applicators. Creating an account and browsing the job feed are free. To claim (respond to) jobs and to receive a customer's contact details when they choose you, you need an active subscription. The price is £14.99 for your first month, then £19.99/month, cancel anytime. Prices include VAT. The price in force when you subscribe is shown on the pricing page and on the payment page before you pay. Any introductory price applies once per applicator, to the first billing period only.

  • Rolling monthly. The subscription renews automatically each month on the same date, and the monthly price is taken from your card by our payment provider, Stripe, until you cancel. We never see or store your card number.
  • Cancel anytime. You can cancel at any time from your account page (or by emailing us). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for: you keep access until then, and you are not charged again. We do not refund part months, except as set out below.
  • Consumer cancellation right. If you subscribe as a consumer (not for your trade or business), you can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Because you ask us to start the service straight away, we will refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the days you had access. Most applicators subscribe for their business, in which case this right does not apply, but the "cancel anytime" rule above always does.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe will try again and we will email you. If it still cannot be taken, the subscription ends and you lose access to claiming and to customer contact details until you subscribe again.
  • No guarantee of work. The subscription gives access to the jobs posted in your area. It does not guarantee any number of jobs, claims or customers, and customers are free to choose another applicator.
  • Our mistakes. If you are charged in error, or the site is unavailable for a significant part of a billing period because of a fault on our side, contact us and we will refund the affected amount.
  • Price changes. We may change the monthly price. We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Suspension. If we suspend your account for breaking these terms, the subscription is cancelled at the end of the current period. We will refund the rest of the current period if we suspend you without good reason.

4. Using the site

  • You must be 18 or over and give accurate, up-to-date information.
  • Keep your password and your private job link safe. You can ask for a new job link at any time, which stops the old one working.
  • Applicators may hold only one account and must use their own contact details.

5. Applicators are not vetted: customers must check them

Before an applicator can see jobs, the only check we make is that they have confirmed their email address. They also give us a phone number, but we do not check the phone number, their identity, company, trading history, qualifications, cards (such as CSCS or IPAF), reviews or insurance. A listing or claim on this site is not a recommendation.

Before you agree any work, you are responsible for checking that the applicator is right for the job. For example:

  • ask for proof of public liability insurance that is suitable for the work;
  • ask for references and photos of similar jobs;
  • get a written quote that sets out the price and scope;
  • check any cards or training the job or site needs.

6. Applicators' responsibilities

If you are an applicator, you must:

  • be competent for the work you claim, hold any training, licence or insurance the law or the job requires, and work safely and within the law, including health and safety law (for example the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 where they apply);
  • give honest information and honest guide prices in your claims;
  • use a customer's contact details only to deal with the job they chose you for, and not for marketing or anything else;
  • deal with your own tax, contracts and guarantees with the customer.

7. Possible asbestos and the duty to stop work

Old mastic, sealant, bitumen and floor adhesives, especially in buildings from before 2000, can contain asbestos. When posting, customers should tick "possible asbestos" if they think this might apply, and any job with that flag shows a clear warning to applicators. We do not assess, test or confirm whether any material contains asbestos.

  • Whether or not a job is flagged, anyone who suspects that material may contain asbestos must not cut, scrape, drill or otherwise disturb it, and must stop work at once if suspect material is found during the job.
  • Work must not restart until the material has been sampled and tested by a competent person, and any removal must be done by people trained and, where the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 require it, licensed for that work.
  • Customers must tell applicators what they know about the age and history of the building and any asbestos survey.

8. Content and acceptable use

You are responsible for what you post, including job descriptions, photos, claim messages, profiles and portfolio photos. You allow us to store, display and adapt it (for example resizing photos and removing location data) to run the site. You must not post or do anything that:

  • is unlawful, false, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening or offensive;
  • shows people's faces, house numbers, car registrations or other people's personal details, or infringes anyone else's rights;
  • is a fake job or fake claim, spam, advertising unrelated to a job, or an attempt to collect other users' details;
  • involves scraping, automated access, uploading malware, getting around rate limits or security, or pretending to be someone else.

9. Reporting, removal and suspension

Please report misuse or a problem with a job or an applicator to jobs@mastic-man.co.uk, quoting the job reference or business name. We may remove content, remove a job, or suspend or close an account at any time if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, the site is being misused, or it is necessary to protect users or comply with the law. We will usually tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. You can close your account at any time by emailing us.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with the site or with how we have handled something, email jobs@mastic-man.co.uk. We aim to reply within 14 days. Complaints about an applicator's or a customer's work or conduct are a matter between those two parties, but please tell us so we can consider whether to take action under section 9.

11. Our liability to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales (or Scotland or Northern Ireland where that law applies).

Subject to that:

  • we are not responsible for the work, advice, prices, conduct, insurance or failure to turn up of any applicator, or for the acts, information or payments of any customer, because we are not a party to their contract;
  • we are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control;
  • if you use the site for business (for example as an applicator or a contractor), we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts or opportunity, or for any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to £100;
  • if you are a consumer, we only supply the site for domestic and private use, and we are not liable for business losses.

We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or stop the service at any time.

12. Your legal rights

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Your rights against an applicator for work they do are set by your contract with them and the law, not by these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how the site works. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we will give notice on the site of any important change before it takes effect.

14. Governing law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law where you live.

15. General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. Only you and we have rights under these terms; no one else can enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation that takes over the site, and we will tell you if that happens.
