Frequently asked questions

What is Mastic Man?

A job board for mastic and sealant work only. Homeowners, landlords, contractors and facilities managers post sealant jobs, and mastic and sealant applicators claim them. It covers bathroom and kitchen resealing, window and door mastic, expansion and movement joints, façades and curtain walling, concrete and floor joints, new-build plot finishing and commercial sealing.

How does it work?

Post your job with a description, photos and your postcode district. Up to 3 applicators who cover your area can claim it with a short message and a guide price. You compare them on your private job page and choose one. Only then are contact details shared.

What does it cost?

Posting a job is free for customers. Applicators can browse the job feed free, and pay a monthly subscription to respond to jobs: £14.99 for your first month, then £19.99/month, cancel anytime. Prices include VAT. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. See pricing.

Do you take a commission on the work?

No. You agree the price directly with the applicator you choose and pay them directly.

Can contractors and housebuilders post jobs?

Yes. Main contractors, builders, housebuilders, shopfitters and facilities managers post in the same way as homeowners, and can say so on the form. Multi-plot, phase and planned maintenance work is welcome: describe the quantities, access and site rules so applicators can price it.

Who sees my contact details?

Nobody at first. Applicators see the job description, photos and your postcode district (for example MK40), not your name, phone, email or address. When you choose an applicator, your details go to that applicator only, and you get theirs.

I have lost the link to my job. What do I do?

Go to Get a new link and enter the email address you posted with. We email a fresh link for each of your recent jobs, and the old links stop working.

What do you check about applicators?

Applicators must confirm their email address before they can see jobs. We do not check companies or identity, and cards such as CSCS, IPAF or PASMA are optional. We suspend accounts reported for misuse. We do not guarantee any work, so please ask for photos of previous jobs and a reference.

What if the old mastic might contain asbestos?

Tick the possible-asbestos box when you post. Mastic and sealant in buildings from before 2000 can contain asbestos, particularly around windows and panels. Applicators see a warning on the job. Do not cut it out yourself: have it tested first, and if it does contain asbestos, the removal must be done by people trained, and where the law requires it licensed, for that work.

Where do you cover?

The whole UK: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the islands. We are launching in phases, so some areas will have few applicators at first; after you post, we tell you how many applicators cover your area. In Northern Ireland, the Outer Hebrides and Shetland we match by postcode area, because distances are not available there.

What if nobody claims my job?

You can cancel it at any time from your private job page. Posting is free, so there is nothing to refund.

How does the applicator subscription work?

It is a rolling monthly subscription (£14.99 for your first month, then £19.99/month, cancel anytime). It lets you respond to as many jobs as you like and see the customer's contact details when they choose you. It does not guarantee any number of jobs. Cancel at any time from your account: you keep access until the end of the month you have paid for, and it does not renew. If you are a consumer you can also cancel within 14 days of first subscribing; see the terms.

How much should my job cost?

Every job is different, and the applicator sets the price. Our price guide gives general UK ranges for common sealant jobs, clearly labelled as guide ranges only.

I am a mastic or sealant applicator. How do I join?

Create an account with your name, phone number, area and the sealant work you do, then confirm your email address. That is all: you can browse jobs straight away, and subscribe when you want to respond to them. A trading name and CSCS, IPAF or PASMA cards are optional, and no company number is needed. See how it works for applicators.

How do I complain or ask for my data to be deleted?
